I am a DONA International Certified Doula and Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator living in Berwick, Pennsylvania.
I travel to Williamsport, Lewisburg, Selinsgrove, Danville, Bloomsburg, Scranton, Wilkes Barre, Wyoming Valley, and in between to work with and support families.
Doula is Greek meaning 'a woman who serves'. As a doula and childbirth educator I serve women and their partners by providing education and support during pregnancy, labor, birth, and beyond! I arrive when you need me and stay until several hours after baby is born, 5 hours or 30+ I am there. Doctors, midwives and nurses come and go. Your doula is the consistent presence that helps you feel comfortable and safe, but also recognizes and supports your privacy and bonding as a new family.
I am your interpreter in the foreign land of the hospital
I have worked with over 200 families during medicated births, non medicated births, cesarean births, and VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). I have supported clients at Moses Taylor, Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Geisinger Danville, and Geisinger Bloomsburg. Susquehanna Health Williamsport Hospital, LeHigh Valley Hazleton Hospital, Williamsport Hospital, and Evangelical Hospital. I have a good relationship with the doctors, midwives and nurses and am always honored when they refer clients to me. I help you and your partner prepare for labor, birth, and beyond!
I now am trained and have TENS Units for clients to use in labor. A great form of pain relief! Ask me how you can benefit from this!
Taking my Lamaze childbirth classes are a great match up with my doula services! The class builds on Lamaze's Healthy Birth Practices and helps you prepare for a safe and healthy labor and birth.
I am one of the few childbirth classes in the area that are not taught and sponsored by a hospital so I am not restricted to only talking about what the hospital allows or prefers. Lamaze focuses on what evidence based research tells us. The class series is one evening a week over 6 weeks which helps with your retention and understanding of information. Classes are small so participants feel comfortable and safe asking questions. It's not your moms Lamaze and is much more then breathing!
