Private Classes in your home
Some insurance companies will reimburse for childbirth classes or you can use your HSA
During these classes you will learn about pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum and breastfeeding.
Knowledge is power!
We will discuss what is normal, and what is not. I will help you understand what are the best evidence based practices during pregnancy, labor, and birth.
Come learn all about the hormones of labor and how they help you and your baby. What helps them flow and what stops them. We will watch videos and discuss what labor feels like and how to help the contractions do their job. You will learn to listen to and work with your body. Your partner will learn ways to help and support you through comfort measures, relaxation, visualization, and other non medical pain management as well as the medical options. We will discuss interventions that might come up and the pros and cons of each. You will learn how to use your BRAINS for decision making. You both will leave the classes with many tools in your toolkit to use during labor and birth.
I limit classes to no more then 4 pregnant people and their partners so that you feel comfortable talking and asking questions. This is also a great way to make friends with other expecting families!
Classes are fun, interactive, and evidence based. There will be balloons, dolls, bones, laughter, ice, music, and snacks! I would love for you to join me in a class. Virginia
All those attending classes have access to my extensive library of books and videos.
Class content is based on the Lamaze 6 Healthy Birthing Practices
- Let labor begin on its own
- Walk, move around and change positions throughout labor
- Bring a loved one, friend and a doula for continuous support
- Avoid interventions that are not medically necessary
- Avoid giving birth on your back and follow your body's urges to push
- Keep mother and baby together - It's best for mother, baby and breastfeeding
Comments from Lamaze class attendees
I always left Virginia's Lamaze classes feeling educated and empowered. She provided excellent visual resources and ample opportunities to practice comfort measures that helped ease the pain of labor. When my water broke at home, I felt calm and prepared because of the Lamaze healthy birth practices. Virginia's class and doula support gave me the confidence to have the natural childbirth that I wanted.
I found myself becoming knowledgeable about the natural process of birth and our rights as both patients and parents. She gave us tools to communicate respectfully our wants and wishes during pregnancy and at the hospital during labor and birth.
